I need a Fish

Creative marketing mascot social engagement spokesperson

I need a fish.  The problem is... I don't want a fish.  When I was a kid, my sister and I had an aquarium.  It was a disaster. We hated cleaning it.  The water would turn into this funky pea soup consistency before we began the dreaded task. But, after reading this article that topics storytelling enhancement techniques on Facebook... I feel a fish in my future.  Letting a mascot be your spokesperson is an awesome idea.  I can see "ask the fish", live "streaming" the fish, maybe taking the fish on location (heck... I don't even take Mr...

Keeping Up with the Googles.

Blog content content creation content generation marketing unique content

Keeping up with the Googles. It's hard enough to create content (regularly) but when you're trying to boost your rankings it becomes even more difficult.  I think that's the point.  It is difficult to "game the system" or have a quick fix to boost rankings.  The search engines have a simple goal and that is to provide the best solution when they're posed with a question.  So, while you might be able to get away with a document that is "keyword stuffed", i.e., you took a single keyword and tried to get it in the document as many times as...

marketing success Success tips

The secret behind all successful people is these 6 things, or 11 things or 15 things and a bonus... Really? Do you need a list. I haven't seen the "Dummies Guide To Making a Million Dollars" yet. In fact I got to tip 13 and decided that according to this list being successful didn't sound very fun. Tips like "Limit TV to one hour". Give me a break! The way...

Starry Starry Grape (roll eyes)

add-on captive audience choices marketing Sales

My Niece LOVES the American Girl Doll Store.  If you've never been... wow, it's a marketing experience times 1,000.  I mean if you can create a doll and charge to pierce it's ears and on top of that create a hospital that you send your doll to for repairs that's some seriously creative marketing!  I visited the store in Orlando on January 2nd.  That's similar to the sun exploding at the same time all fireworks in the universe go off.  Why?  It's a brand new store and they have a special welcome gift for all visitors on the first and...

Who Owns a Post?

marketing marketing content soaicl marketing Social marketing

Who owns a post? I am fascinated by the legal gymnastics this article presents. I have a baton twirling site and watch as lots and lots of the photos that appear in my newsfeed have watermarks seemingly ignored by the people posting. But this article goes even further. There is an art exhibit created with Instagram photos "modified slightly" then printed to canvas. Several have sold at the $90,000 mark.

What if this were your photo... You posted an adorable photo of your grandparents. You didn't intend it for marketing or sales purposes. It was just a sweet...
