Why oh why does no one understand me?  Do you ever feel this way at your business… you put an ad out in the paper, yet the phone doesn’t ring or worse, you get crazy people that call?

Here’s a tip.

You are no longer in control of your brand.  I know, that is a bummer – especially when your business is YOU.  You work the long hours, you take the risks, and then some “crazy” writes a gut wrenching awful review of a transaction.

OH MY – it hurts, doesn’t it.

WHY?  Why does it hurt?  Because they are writing about a transaction and you are reading it personally.

That doesn’t mean you can discount what happened… after all, learning from the negative review is one of the biggest things you can do to switch gears and make a better product or service.

But this doesn’t make it hurt less, especially when you’re running on little sleep!

Where does this leave you?  Well, when you accept that you are not in control of your brand it may feel like you’re floating out in the ocean, by yourself, on a raft.  However, you do have some control.

Your control starts at the VERY beginning of the transaction – waaaay before you get to a point of disagreement.  It starts even before they are a customer.

It starts when you make a solid decision of WHO you want to work with.  You need to develop your ideal customer, your avatar, and then 100% go out there and find them.  This is your absolute most favorite person in the world to work with… they probably love your work, pay on time with a smile, and lift you up.

YES… you can have this magical interaction – but you need to make that decision, now.

One other piece of advice, when you have that “crazy” learn from it.  You may need to enhance your written policies and procedures to protect yourself in the future.

But as always, it’s best NOT to dwell.  Get the solution and move to the next transaction — the more time you spend on negative, you’re missing opportunities to make money with your ideal customer!
