Dolly has some good advice that you can use for your messaging with your tribe building. Here’s why…
When you decide who you are marketing to… you’ll attract the people you want in your tribe.
It’s true.
Changing your marketing efforts to attracting people, spoiling them with content they desire and then offering products for sale they want – you’ll find an entirely new successful path to making money.
But you need to be consistent with your efforts.
So how does Dolly fit into this process? Well when she says, “Find out who you are and do it on purpose” she means define the group your business is attracting and then attract them. However, this can only be done when you know your own purpose!
I look at it like this…
If you market to everyone you’ll market to no one.
For example, in the boating industry… if you want to market to boaters… you’ve got to understand there are many different types of boaters. You’ve got people that live on boats, those that sail, many people fish, and then there are recreational boaters…
Even within these topics you have subsets… do people boat on the ocean, river, or lake… do they own a boat, rent a boat, or time share one…
You can drill down over and over – but eventually you’ll find your specialty and the tribe you desire working with… it makes no sense to market to boaters and attract those that deep sea fish if you are a small inland lake marina, such as our family business.
So do like Dolly… find out who you are and you’ll find your purpose… start with this goal today and clarify the journey you are going to take your tribe on!
