Episode #197 – Keep Going! Stick to Your Plan!

Social marketing is hard, right?  Sometimes!  It’s definitely different.  We used to place one ad in the Sunday newspaper and that was it!  Done.

Now there’s more to the advertising… you have the ability to target who and where the “who” is hanging out!  It can seem overwhelming, especially when you don’t get the instant feedback you hope for, but it does pay off.

It’s like anything that takes time and skill, practice is the place to start.  How long did you “think” about starting your business… it probably did not start on a spontaneous action, you put thought into it.  Look back to your start, look at all of the things you’ve done to get to where you are at right now.  How much have you learned… a whole bunch!

Getting results with your social marketing is fun and it’s about overcoming your doubts that you’ll ever understand it.  The first hurdle is consistency.  The second is to create great and interesting content that your followers desire. The third is to cultivate an audience.  When you get these three things together you’ll achieve success.

I started doing this at our family business this past summer.  I didn’t really understand if it would achieve results but it did.  For example, I sent out an email and received an order within the first 45 minutes!  Then I received two more orders within the next 3 hours. It was fantastic.

So as we get ready for our Wednesday routine and you’re wondering if you need to create that post today… yes, do it!  Every day you are building trust with your audience.  Make sure to share your gift of information with them.  And if you feel discouraged because no one “comments” – stop and think… how many times have you read something online and it made you think, yet… you didn’t comment.

Your words make a difference, even if it seems like all you hear in response are the cherps of crickets!
