“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.”
It’s often said the hardest thing is to start. I agree! But the second hardest thing is to keep going. Well… sometimes. I mean, habits can be both good and bad, right?!?
Posting consistently is EASY when it’s fun. If you’ve got great “current event” things to post it’s pretty easy to regularly share what’s going on at your business. For example, around a holiday or special event it’s easy to entertain your audience. But what about when there’s a “drought” of exciting things to say… then what.
That’s when the habit must kick in.
Things won’t always be exciting – you know that! But your audience still wants to hear from you. You are building a relationship and just like the “real world” you need to be there. You must stay present! It’s no different from staying in touch with a friend, when you disappear, your friend wonders what happens. Same holds true for your social media followers. The difference is… they may not miss you. They may go to another company!
That’s why you need to decide to be consistent. You just make the decision to post 1, 3, 4 or more times a week. The number is less important than the consistency! Just make sure that you continually stay in touch at the same time, each time.
Let me bring this to a “real world” example. Do you follow a business on Facebook, Instagram or email that every day when you wake up in the morning and open that platform you see their message? Every day at the same time that message is there… that is consistency. I receive an email every evening that is the “National Day of” that tells me what tomorrow’s “day of” will be… I look forward to getting it!
When you post, you can be that message to your fans! Be that message people look forward to… be consistent. Be a habit. Be Excellent.
