What’s your story?  Let’s back up…What is a story?

The power of marketing stories can escape us as we talk about a product features and benefits.

I was talking to a customer today and relayed the basics of our Dry Stack Storage — I’ll back up… Dry Stack is where we store boats on racks in a warehouse.  We store them three boats high… then use a forklift to retrieve the boat an put in the lake with a 1 hour notice.

SO back to my story

I was on the phone explaining the hours and specs of the boat needed to fit.

Well, that’s just not fun.

What’s more fun is showing a video of how we insulated the warehouse (might not sound exciting – but it is a cool video)

Another story was watching the wedding proposal that took place on our dock where our crew helped decorate the customer boat…

Stories happen all day long.

It could be the story of receiving a new shipment of products and unboxing them.

Lots of times we think stories are the history of our business or our about me section on the website.

And that’s not a content story.

The content story is the thing that allows you to relate, one on one, to your customer.

It’s not history, it’s not features/benefits, it’s not hours of operation– your friend doesn’t want to hear that… your friend wants to know that you had a cake for your co-worker’s birthday, your friend wants to see a video of you shoveling the snow on the sidewalk outside your store, your friend wants to see your behind the scenes action.

This is a great way to get your customer to bond with you and convert that customer into a loyal tribe member!

You are responsible for telling your story… we no longer “sell ourselves” we share stories.

Today take a minute to tell one story about something… anything… just tell it!
