Tribeology: Learn It. Do It. Profit. Decide who you want to work with, attract them, and sell them things they want to buy! It really is that simple.
Thursday: Infinity Customer
Quote:”You are only partly responsible for the results; you are 100% responsible for the effort.”
Today I went shopping… well, we went shopping – I took my mom. The continuing journey of her leg recovery brought us from a doctor’s visit to the mall.
Shopping is her favorite activity.
When she shops she thinks of the people she wants to buy the item for… It’s a time that brings her peace.
So what does this have to do with an Infinity Customer? Well… The Infinity Customer is one that buys from you over and over. You have attracted this customer to your tribe and by providing them with content they want to stay and they want to buy things…
Well, at least this is how it works in theory. So what happens in person?
What happens “in person” is that you are often your own worst enemy!
Seriously, you work very hard with your tribe to create a vibe and if you have a real world presence that doesn’t match the vibe… uh oh!
Here’s what I mean… my mom’s recovery requires that she keeps weight off her foot so she is in a wheel chair. We wheeled everywhere at the mall… and in two different stores we had sales people that were fantastic!
While we couldn’t get everywhere or see everything due to the height of items on shelves and her height in a chair… these two sales people brought her items, made suggestions, asked questions… they made her feel special and they helped her.
In another store, the sales person was cranky – I don’t think it had anything to do with us or the situation – I just think she was having a bad day.
Now, here’s the deal the online vibe of all three stores is “similar” – it’s peppy, inclusive, welcoming, and friendly. Yet the “in person” vibes couldn’t be more different. One store reality did NOT match their online marketing…
There’s a 4th store in the mix…
You know what happened there? NOTHING! My mom loves trinkets and shelf nick-nacks… that is what this store sold. Although it did not actually sell anything. We rolled in and couldn’t get past the front area because it was “cluttered” – now, I said earlier there were places we couldn’t see or reach in the other stores, but the sales people went above and beyond to help. Here there were crickets.
The fun part is… who cares. We didn’t. This was my mom’s first trip out of the hospital and care facilities in three months, it’s 20 days before Christmas and she “needs” to get her shopping done.
We’re also at a mall with 80 other stores.
So you know what we did… we went to the next store and bought lots of gifts.
If you are going to spend a lot of time and money to create Infinity Customers it needs to be your actual business vibe. You want to be real with your customers online and that needs to match the experience they have in person with you.
