“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”-Theodore Roosevelt
If you’ve ever felt like you’re a million miles away from achieving your goal, are you really 2 million away… here’s why I ask. If you believe you can, you cut the distance in half… so are you one million or two million miles away from achievement?
I know it’s late at night and I’m a little philosophic… but it’s something to ponder.
I grew up as a competitive baton twirler and spent lots of time in a gym. It was hours and hours of practice between competitions. But today’s inspiration is true, if you believe you can, you’re half way to the goal.
Now… here’s where I get back to the 2 million mile question…
I hated losing. In fact, I’d rather come in third than second. There are two types of people, those that understand and agree with that statement and those that don’t get it. To me, if I were in third, I never had a chance. BUT, if I came in second… it would drive me nutz trying to figure out what I could have done different to win.
Well last night I was following several state Miss America contests on Facebook – I wanted to find out how the twirlers were doing. One gal was in her second attempt at her state crown… she received first runner up. I have no idea if she was happy to be second or frustrated. But she did narrow that gap by believing “she could.”
That’s the take-away! When you set your goal for one month from today, you’ve got to believe you will achieve it, that’s half the battle. Did you notice I tricked you… I gave you a task! Set a goal for a month from today and take this motivational quote out for a spin!
