Thursday: Infinity Customer
Think about walking into a McDonalds, can you see the counter, the menu, the fries in the background? How about the colors, the golden arches, the trays… You know what to expect and you get it.
It doesn’t matter if you’re in a small town or a large city, the brand is consistent. The menu is nearly the same… I went to McDonalds in Japan and they had Green Tea shakes and the McBento along with the Big Mac… so there is a little local flair everywhere… but for the most part there is the same menu.
Now think of Starbucks.
What do you smell, what do you hear, is it warm or cool, busy or calm – what is the vibe? There’s a little difference neighborhood to neighborhood… but again, it’s a pretty consistent experience.
The brand of these two businesses is predictable, but when you have a couple thousand storefronts the brand needs to happen.
But what about your brand?
What do you transmit to your customers without trying? Or what should you start trying?
Two quick ideas… 1) consistent communication – this comes from your colors/style/look and feel.
You might be thinking, but I only have one storefront, how consistent do I need to be? Well, if your website is white with flowers and lovely happy photos… but your store front is dark and smells like mildew you’ve got a consistency problem!
the message of consistency crosses from brochures, to your storefront, to your website, to what you drive and shirt you wear. The logo needs to remain the same along with the colors and vibe!
The second idea is that your personality can shine…. My writing style is ME. I use capitalization and …’s regularly — My lack of proper sentences probably drives some people crazy, so if they don’t hang out here, that’s OK.
You’ve got to mesh with the vibe.
You need to consider the brand the personality of the business. It’s supported via your social posts and your emails you use to communicate.
Here’s the deal…
If you are a medical device company for heart transplants, you better sound like a doctor. If you are a restaurant that caters to children’s birthday parties, sounding like a fact based doctor isn’t going to promote a fun party atmosphere.
The goal for your customers is to be conscious of the consistency of your overall look and feel along with promoting the vibe/personality of your business.
This is how you work on a brand, every day!
The brand doesn’t just “happen” it’s created for your customer.
Today, audit your look/feel to see if you are creating a consistent vibe, and follow up with a post that reinforces this vibe!
