Episode #327 – The Secret to Finding Content Sources!

“I won a nickname: ‘The Great Communicator’ But I never thought it was my style or the words I used that made the difference. It was the content. I wasn’t a great communicator, but I communicated great things.” Ronald Reagan

Have you ever wondered what historical figures would have done with social media?  Granted President Reagan had a movie career and was good “on camera” but above all of that I think he would have excelled due to his grasp of content.

Now the charm of history is that it’s in the past, we can speculate in any direction. So, while I say his excellence would shine, others would point to a weakness and make their case.

But he gave us a quote that is actually a play book for communicating via social media. So let’s run with that!

President Reagan, himself, did not think he was worthy of the title “the great communicator” and instead gave praise to the skill of communicating great things.  You too can capitalize on this skill!

Communicating great things comes from two sources; internal and external.

Your internal source is what’s floating around in your head.  It’s when you recall a conversation or interaction with a customer and choose to share in a post.  It’s your ability to share knowledge and experience with your audience.  The key is when you experience and share.

Your external source is what goes on around you.  The ability  to read an article in a trade magazine and share it online. The sharing of a video or post.  Your secondary comments on why you are sharing it’s value with your audience. Sure you personalize the source with your flavor, but ultimately you did not create the content but still feel that your audience will benefit by having it.

As I’ve shared previously, the ability to create content is important to your Infinity Marketing Machine, but magnifying with consistency will skyrocket the results.  Your consistency can be helped by using both internal and external content sources.  Utilizing both may free up your fear in “running out” of material or “burning out” on your enthusiasm.

It’s an entirely different mindset, but try mixing in a little external content in your social posting plan!
