People want to do business with people, not with companies. This means they want to look to the people that are the business and develop a relationship with the company.
The good thing is… you can do this pretty easily via the first C of Tribeology.
When you focus on Credibility you can go far toward the goal of strengthening your leadership role in your customers view.
As I said, people want to do business with people, and the biggest way to ruin this plan is when you act in a way that does not promote credibility.
Let’s say you run a hotel and your website features photos of the rooms. They are beautiful with new carpet, furniture, and the latest TV. But when your guests arrive they find nice carpet, furniture, and a TV, however all of them are 5 years old.
There will be disappointment.
You lost credibility.
The same happens with you as a person. This is why the credibility of the “person” is as important as that of the “business”.
If you put information on your about me page that doesn’t match you… you’ll eventually find a problem. For example, let’s say you feature your number one charity of dog rescues… but then someone notices in your office you have a poster, “the only good dog is a dead one” – that would be quite the credibility smasher.
Keep your credibility building with your awards, honors, education, and information sharing…. just make sure to keep on the track of consistency by making sure your messaging matches YOU.
